The Return To Beauty

The Return To Beauty

Can we get an amen to the Beauty industry coming out of lockdown here in the UK on April 12th?! I don’t know about you but I’m literally day by day counting down to how many sleep it is until I get my hair and nails done again. Seriously.

Working in beauty is one thing, but being able to see from both sides as both the consumer and the service provider has created this double itch that I have been craving to scratch for what feels like an eternity.

It was only a few months ago that Bojo announced that we would be going into lockdown again whist at the same time catching wind that my local nail salon had committed to staying open until midnight that night in the aim to see as many of us as possible before the clock struck twelve. Knowing that this would be my last chance for at least the following six weeks was motivation enough for me to rock up at the salon at around 11pm. I arrived and sat in a long queue of women who, just like me had rush over to snag one of the last opportunities for a manicure knowing that we’d be forced to maintain them ourselves for the next few weeks.

I have to say, it was quite an eye opening experience. The salon was packed and some women had even arrived in their pyjamas, slippers and robes like they’d immediately walked out the door when they caught news that the salon was pulling a late nighter for us all.

As I sat in that queue waiting to be called up for my manicure I was amazed at the turn out and the level of commitment we’’d all made to getting our arses there late at night for what some may perceive to be such a trivial thing.

The truth is that the stress of having to self manicure for a month or two really is nothing when compared to the big life challenges so many have faced during lockdown, however what has been more evident than ever is that the beauty industry is extremely valuable to us.

Whether it be getting your hair done, manicure or pedicure, makeup or lashes… all of these things are valuable acts of self care. They’re fun and joyful ways in which we show love and care for ourselves. It’s also a huge part of our self expression, individuality and identity.

Seeing all those women queued up in the salon with me so late at night was true testament to the fact that we put a high value on our beauty routines because it makes us feel good.

As soon as it was announced that the industry would be opening up again on April 12th I was immediately on the phone rebooking all of my own beauty appointments and I really am on a day by day countdown until I get to enjoy that time for myself again. It’s also been invaluable to hear from so many women during lockdown that they too have missed being able to work with me face to face and experience being taken care of. Making women look and feel like the most elevated versions of themselves is truly what lights me up and I cannot welcome so many of you back to Beauty Luxe Pro from April 12th.

Working in the beauty industry over the past year or so has been near to impossible and I want to commend all the beauty professionals that have managed to hang in there and all the clients that have continued to support our small businesses with online consultations and adapted services.

Something that has been more evident to me than ever through all of this is that I love the work I do, I love my business and i adore my clients. There really isn’t a more rewarding experience for me than to facilitate a women owning her beauty and her greatness. If you’re curious about us working together from April 12th, then I’d love to hear from you.
